---Now I urge you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction.--- 1 Corinthians 1:10 HCSB
The Apostle had taken time to comprehend the many blessings that had been placed on the church at Corinth. He then also took time to look at the divisions and problems that had come up within this local church. Paul did not use his apostolic authority to command them, but rather he compelled them to prevent these divisive events. By first making sure they understood they where family brothers/sisters, and then leading them to remember whose name they represent. When we understand we are all under the same grace, it is harder to think less of a brother/sister.
Paul would remind them they where put together in Christ to be a working unit made up of many parts. Being joined in mind and purpose, to accomplish God's purpose in this earth. We are to also avoid division, while we may not be in agreement regarding judgement and conviction, we should be complete agreement in love and affection towards one another.
---Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. --- 2 Corinthians 13:11 HCSB
