Mary Baker Eddy @ a glance ……!!
Mary Baker Eddy is the pioneer and initiator of Christian Science. In the year 1879, she founded the Church of Christ, Scientist based on the teachings and healings of Christ Jesus. The study of Bible eventually led to her writing the definitive textbook on christianly scientific healing, called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. The last 100 pages of this book contain testimonials of people who were healed—mentally and physically—simply by reading Science and Health.
About the Portal
The WellSpring Foundation was shaped to present the exposure of Mary Baker Eddy, which she named Christian Science, free of institutional intrusion, and without interpretation. It’s moreover a mark of admiration and honor to her and works. The Foundation specially made Andrew W. Kidd to read and record the textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, authored by Mary Baker Eddy. As the author she stated: “Science and Health doesn’t need to be interpreted to those who are earnestly seeking Truth.”
Of the Christian Science textbook, Mrs. Eddy writes simply, "It was not myself, but the divine power of Truth and Love, infinitely above me, which dictated 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.'" Of her writings on Christian Science in general she says, "I was a scribe under orders."
In founding Christian Science she effectively discharged heavy tasks for which she had no human preparation. To one called upon to develop new skills in a related area, prior professional training can actually prove a hindrance. But at least Mrs. Eddy knew the labors of authorship.
In an early sermon Mrs. Eddy states, "God is All, and in all: that finishes the question of a good and a bad side to existence." She ends the same paragraph: "If you wish to be happy, argue with yourself on the side of happiness; take the side you wish to carry, and be careful not to talk on both sides, or to argue stronger for sorrow than for joy. You are the attorney for the case, and will win or lose according to your plea."
To transmit her thought, Mrs. Eddy sometimes picked a striking term from the speech of her day. Seeing the downward drag exerted on deluded mortals by the animal lie of sentient matter, she identified "animal magnetism" as exactly fitted to specify the nature and action of this suppositional opposite of divine Truth. Oftener she chose ordinary words, irradiating them with new spiritual light.
